How to choose a Zhineng Qigong course
Choose a Zhineng Qigong course by checking who trained the teacher, whether the course is part of a clear curriculum, and whether you are taught live with time for questions. Then look at the practical side: support for daily practice, language and time zone, honest health information and a clear price.
This guide explains each point and what to ask before you book. At the end you’ll see how our own courses answer the same questions, so you can compare for yourself.
1. Who trained the teacher?
Zhineng Qigong was developed by Prof. Dr. Pang Ming, who trained teachers at the Huaxia Zhineng Qigong Centre in China, known in the West as the “medicine-less hospital”. Since then the method has spread worldwide, and teachers today range from people who studied directly with Dr. Pang Ming to people who learned it from video courses.
Ask: Where, with whom and for how long did the teacher study? How long have they taught, and do they still deepen their own practice?
2. Is it part of a clear curriculum?
Learning Zhineng Qigong properly takes more than a single course. A good course is part of a clear curriculum: it tells you what it covers, how it connects to the other courses, and what you will be able to do at the end.
Ask: Which methods and which theory will I learn? How does this course fit with the others, and where can I start?
3. Will you be taught live, with time for questions?
Small details of posture and attention make a big difference in Qigong, and they are hard to learn from video alone. Live sessions let a teacher explain, demonstrate and answer questions. Self-paced lessons are valuable for repeating and deepening what you have learned.
Ask: How many hours of live teaching are included? When can I ask questions?
4. What helps you practise between sessions?
Qigong works through regular practice, so the time between lessons matters as much as the lessons. Recordings help you catch up on a missed session. A structured self-study course, with lessons, exercises and a practice plan, helps you keep learning, and a group to practise with keeps you going.
Ask: Are sessions recorded, and for how long can I access them? Is there guidance for daily practice?
5. Does it teach the theory as well as the movements?
Zhineng Qigong is more than a sequence of movements. Dr. Pang Ming based it on his theory of the Hunyuan Whole Entity, which connects Qi, mind and body. Understanding it helps you practise with the right intention, so a good course explains why you do something, not only how.
6. Does it fit your language and time zone?
Check the language of the course, whether translation is offered, and whether live sessions fall at a time you can attend. Recordings help if you can’t join every session.
7. Is the health information honest?
Many people come to Qigong for their health. Participants often describe feeling calmer, more energetic and more at ease in their bodies, and some report striking changes in their health during a course. Such experiences are personal and differ from person to person. A trustworthy course shares them honestly, without promising results, and never asks you to stop medical treatment: Qigong complements professional medical care rather than replacing it.
8. Are the price and conditions clear?
Compare what you actually get: hours of live teaching, recordings, materials and how long you can access them. A useful measure is the cost per hour of course time. Check the refund policy before you book.
9. Can you try it first?
A free session or an introduction lets you experience the teacher and the method before you commit.
